India, a land of many cultures and also the country to have one of the worlds largest automobile industries. That said, it is a little hard for a carmaker to survive in the market as it is replete with the competition. Talking about which, the competition consists of some of the eminent brands. It is the country’s population that just love a specific kind of vehicle. So, today we count 5 cars in the market that are India’s favourite rides under scattered price brackets. 1. Under ₹4 Lakh – Maruti Suzuki Alto
   

   

   Let’s start the count with one of the oldest vehicles on the list, the Maruti Suzuki Alto. Oldest? Yes! Maruti Alto is witnessing ups and downs since the year 2000. Needless to say, this has been Indian’s favourite vehicle for more than 2 decades.

   

   In its time in the country, it has undergone numerous changes in and out and also under the hood and it still is one of the top-selling vehicles in the market. Currently, the 2021 Maruti Suzuki Alto comes with 769cc 3 cylinder petrol engine.

   This motor is capable of generating peak power of 47 bhp and 69Nm of peak torque. Transferring the power from the transmission to the front wheels is a 5-speed manual gearbox. The overall package makes the vehicle India’s favourite under ₹4 Lakh.

2. Under ₹6 Lakh – Maruti Suzuki Wagon R
   

   

   Increasing the price, India’s Favourite vehicle under ₹6 Lakh price is the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R. Again, this name is among those who have seen the Indian automotive industry grow.

   

   This car with the tall boy stance, is around us since 1999, meaning it is even a year older than the Maruti Suzuki Alto. Keeping out personal thoughts aside, but Maruti Suzuki has done really well to update this quirky vehicle over the years. The 2021 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R is efficient and also comes with an option of dual fuel.

   Yes, there exists a variant that can run the car on petrol as well as on CNG (not simultaneously though). Moving on, Wagon R comes with two engine options under the hood, a 1-litre and a 1.2-litre.

3. Under ₹8 Lakh – Honda Amaze
   

   

   Shifting our focus from Maruti, another car on the list to be India’s favourite but under ₹8 lakh is Honda Amaze. Also, let me tell you this was the best selling compact sedan last month.

   

   Surprisingly Amaze hands down defeated the segment king Dzire in the fight. Well, this also has to do with the update that the new Amaze has recently received. Right now, the Honda Amaze boasts premium interiors with a ton of features to play with.

4. Under ₹10 Lakh – Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza
   

   

   On this list, Maruti Suzuki did leave the chat but just for split second. India’s favourite vehicle under ₹10 Lakh is the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. This vehicle has mostly been in the top 10 selling cars in India.

   

   At the time of the launch, Vitara Brezza was only offered a diesel engine. This refrained many buyers to get one. But now, after the implementation of the BS6 emission norms, Brezza comes with only a petrol engine. That said, with this engine change, Maruti Suzuki also took out time to update the vehicle mostly from the outside.

   Now, the 2021 Maruti Suzuki Brezza come with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine churning 103bhp of max power and 138Nm of peak torque.

5. Under ₹12 Lakh – Hyundai i20
   

   

   The elite class in this price bracket get themselves a Hyundai i20. Okay, as of now the i20 is the most expensive premium hatchback one can buy. After all, the new i20 abounds all sorts of gadgets and gizmos that the current technology has to offer. And this is something that we Indians are just fond of.

   

   Moving, on the 2021 Hyundai i20 also comes with a plethora of engine options. Starting with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirates petrol, to a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. With that this hatch also offers a 1.5-litre turbo diesel, take your pick! With the addition of a sporty variant called the i20 N-Line, the deal becomes even more mouth-watering.
