Jeep is all set to launch three new products in the Indian market. The Compass has performed well since its launch in 2017. The Trailhawk version of the Compass will be coming to India next month, followed by the 7-seater Meridian & Grand Cherokee.
Jeep, India Head, Nipun Mahajan said the following:
“We will have, of course, some disturbances as we are starting with Omicron, but despite that, the Indian consumer has the capability and requirement to grow the automotive industry. That will help the market to grow over 2021.”
“2022 is going to be a very big year for us when we will be launching two new products. And we will have a lot of action on Compass as well, starting with Compass Trailhawk in February this year.”

Currently, Jeep offers 2 SUVS in India; Compass & Wrangler. After evaluating the immense growth, the company expects a further boost with the new models. Let’s see what they have planned:
-
Jeep Compass Trailhawk
Compass received a facelift last January, but the Trailhawk was not offered in the Indian market. Now the variant is set to make its way to our shores and join the lineup, but it will be available in limited stock.

Trackhawk is expected to be equipped for offroading with a 4-wheel drive system as a standard. It will also have revamped bumpers and alloys for cosmetic changes. It will have the same feature list as the Compass and a diesel-only version launching in February.
-
Jeep Meridian
After Ford’s exit, this might be a worthy competitor for Fortuner. It made its global debut as the Commander and sold as Meridian in the Indian markets. One might call it a bigger version of the Compass, with the following dimensions(mm).
Length 4679 Width 1859 Height 1682 Wheelbase 2794 After upgrades, it might be powered by an upgraded version of the 2.0-litre diesel engine in Compass, which Jeep will tune to 200hp. It might be equipped with some mild-hybrid tech and mated to a 9-speed AT transmission powering all wheels.

It will share some interior components with its sibling Compass, but things would differ in the third row. It is expected to have more premium & upmarket upholstery with an expected starting price of ₹35 lakhs and launch by June 2022.
-
Jeep Grand Cherokee
Globally it is offered in two sizes as Grand Cherokee & Grand Cherokee L, but we might get the smaller 5-seater version only. It was one of their initial launches in India with Wrangler and is now set to come back being locally assembled this time.
It is available with petrol & diesel engines and plug-in hybrid engine variants. However, the one offered in India might be powered by a 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine making 290hp along with the hybrid variant.

The interior is inspired by the Grand Wagoneer, emphasising tech and a dedicated unit for the front passenger. The cabin holds three screens in the front with a digital instrument cluster, a robust exterior design, and a high stance. It is expected to arrive by September 2022 and sit above the Meridian with a price range of ₹65-75 lakhs.
