We at GoMechanic reported in December that Kia could launch the electrified version of the first and by far the top-selling car in the compact SUV segment the Seltos. The Kia Seltos EV will be followed by the Kia Soul EV and the Niro EV which will then become the brands fourth and fifth product for the domestic market.
It is rumoured that the Kia Seltos EV will come powered by a 64 kWh battery pack along with a 150 kW electric motor combination and will also hold an estimated driving range of 400 km on a single charge. Although the range could be slightly lower than the Soul and Niro EV’s.

Reports also suggest that the new Seltos EV sales could be restricted to only Asian marketplaces with focusing more on South Korea, India and China. Kia could begin production of the Seltos EV by August 2020 in their designated South Kore based manufacturing unit but due to the on-going Coronavirus pandemic, the dates could be moved further.

Kia introduced the SEltos back in August 2019 and with its launch, it became so popular that it went on to become the most-selling car of 2019 surpassing its sister the Hyundai Creta. The Seltos SUV an impressive response not in Asian countries but also globally. As of now this compact SUV is offered with three engine options to choose from and shares the same powertrains as of the recently launched 2020 Hyundai Creta.
