10 Car Features That Should Be Made Mandatory In 2021

We are almost done with 2020 and this year we saw a lot of car launches. Well, with cars like the MG Gloster, the Indian audience has seen a lot of new features which have come into existence. Well as you have already read the topic of this article, we are gonna talk about some really cool new car features (and some others that are not so cool but are worth a mention!) that we have seen in the cars in recent times and we wish to see more of them in the near future. Let’s have a look at new car features that we think should be mandated in 2021.

1. At least 4 Airbags!
   

   

   Well, safety is the new buzz. Everyone has been talking about safety this year. While the sales report still says otherwise, we have seen huge growth for brands like Tata and Mahindra because they are developing safe cars. Keeping aside the build quality, we think that each car should have at least 4 airbags. Starting in 2021, we think the government and the carmakers should work together to put in at least 4 airbags.

2. Rear Camera with Sensor
   

   

   Most of us know how convenient it is to park a car in tight spaces if you have got a rear parking camera and sensors. While there is an unfortunate mismatch of having either one of them in some cars while the others don’t have anything at all. We think that the camera-sensor combo should be mandated in the coming time. This will help make the parking experience really convenient.

3. Auto Door Lock/unlock
   

   

   Gone are those days when my father used to remind me to lock the car doors each time I got behind the steering wheel. Yes, my car has got speed sensing auto-lock. I guess your car should have it too. Continuing our list of car features that should be mandated in 2021 is the auto door lock and unlock. It’s better if its speed sensing but it’s good enough if it works with your car’s ignition as well. Just turn your ignition on and the doors are locked. Automatically!

4. Daytime Running Lights
   

   

   DRLs not only add to the overall look of your car but are also very helpful in increasing the visibility of your car. While most of the new cars in the market have got DRLs top sellers like Santro and WagonR still lack this feature! We hope the carmakers make this feature standard really soon because DRLs don’t add that much to the costing and enhance the overall look of the vehicle manifolds.

5. Rear Defogger & Wiper
   

   

   Weather conditions are the same for everyone. If you own a top-end variant and I own a base variant how does that mean that I will not face any difficulty in the rains or my rear windshield won’t fog! Well taking this into consideration, the brands should ensure that the roads are a safe place for everyone and all cars are equipped with basic car features like rear defogger and wiper.

6. Tyre Pressure Monitoring System
   

   

   We have a busy life and most of us are found rushing to our workplaces. Do we have the time to check all the 4 tyres separately for air pressure? Absolutely not! On a serious note, TPMS can be really helpful when you are on the roads. You get all the information on the MID and there can be nothing better than that.

7. Follow Me Home Headlamps/Auto Headlamps
   

   

   While most cars nowadays are getting automatic headlamps, follow me home headlamps can be an add-on. Keeping the cost minimal, the automatic headlamps can be considered among the car features that should be made mandatory. Well, this can be a boon to the new drivers and at the same time can make the driving experience a really convenient one.

8. Automatic Emergency Braking
   

   

   We know that ADAS can completely transform your driving experience but that has got a huge cost along with it. Here in our list of car features that we think should be made compulsory, we have the automatic emergency braking. Just imagine if all the cars have got AEB, how many accidents can be avoided! Especially in the times of fog and rains, it can prove to be a boon for the roads.

9. Passive Entry
   

   

   While some cars nowadays have got remote engine start, we can at least expect the others to have passive entry as standard! Passive entry is another one among the car features that we think should be mandated in the coming year. This can provide you one basic advantage – you will never leave your keys inside your car! This is because you will always lock it with the remote. Passive entry can make your life really simple in other situations too. Imagine you have got your hands full and want to unlock the car. 10. Cruise Control
    

    

    We know this will increase the costing of the car significantly which is why we have kept this one at the last spot. Just imagine how convenient it would be if all cars had cruise control! Highway drives won’t be the same at all. For those who haven’t experienced it yet, you should definitely do it. Although this might increase the costing it is definitely worth it!
