8 High-Tech Tesla Features Which Can Prove To Be Useless In India

While Tesla is in news in India for announcing their arrival in 2021, enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for its launch. Once Tesla arrives in India, it will be among the most advanced car brands in India. Most of us know that Tesla’s lineup provides some of the most advanced features in the world as far as automotive is concerned. Will Tesla bring all these features to India as well? If they do, will these features really prove to be useful for us?

In today’s featured, we have a look at high-tech Tesla features which can prove to be useless in India! Let’s begin!

  1. Autopilot

The most widely known among all the Tesla features is the autopilot. Yes, Teslas can drive themselves while you can take a break from the wheel while on a long journey. But is this feature really useful in India? We know the kinds of roads we have and the bumper to bumper traffic that we have to deal with! Can autopilot really work n a country like ours where anyone can suddenly emerge on the roads from anywhere? What do you think about this? Let us know in the comments section below!

  2. Netflix & YouTube

Another one among Tesla features that can be useless for the Indian audience is the availability of Netflix & YouTube. Not actually useless, but Tesla can’t mention it to be an exclusive feature as they do it in the other parts of the world. All of us know about aftermarket Android stereos which have no limitations of how many apps you install! You can watch YouTube or binge-watch Netflix while on a long road trip! But do you really need to buy a Tesla for that?

  3. Easter Eggs & Games

Another feature provided with Tesla cars is the “Easter Eggs” feature. These are small apps that you would find on the infotainment screen that runs with the autopilot mode. These apps are included in the package to make your autopilot experience a bit light and convenient. But as we mentioned above, the full autopilot mode will itself struggle to succeed in India. Will the Easter Eggs be of any worth? You decide!

  4. Navigation on Autopilot

Another out of the box feature that Tesla offers is the navigation on autopilot. If you own a Tesla, you can just tell the infotainment to take you from Point A to Point B and you are done! But in a country like India, where we have small lanes here and there and construction works continue daily basis at new locations, do you think this mode can work well? Most of you might have struggled to find your way to a particular place even with navigation on because a certain lane was closed! What’s your take on this? Comment down below!

  5. Ludicrous Mode

We are now familiar with traction control and terrain controls in the affordable range. Tesla comes with a more advanced feature where you can choose the type of acceleration too! Well, this is one of the most advanced Tesla features. Your car can behave like a normal car and a sports car at the same time depending upon how you like it! Talking about India, the supercar owners are already aware of the fact that they need to find a particular patch of the road to set the beast free. Similarly, paying for such a feature in Tesla which you won’t use frequently isn’t a sensible option at all.

  6. OTA Updates

This is a really great feature offered by Tesla. Just like all other Tesla features, this also makes your car ownership experience more tech-oriented and a better one! So this feature is all about upgrading your Tesla firmware from the comfort of your home. Tesla can upgrade your car’s software directly from the HQ. But just imagine, will this actually work in India? It won’t be of much hassle for the metro cities but there are still places which don’t have access to fast internet! What about them? I guess we are not ready for such tech as of now. What do you think?

  7. Sentry Mode

Another one among Tesla features that make the brand stand out is the Sentry mode. The cameras already installed for serving the purpose of autopilot are used to protect the car from theft. Here, in India, we have to park our car in the tightest parking space in some cities. There is a high probability of these cameras getting damaged or stolen themselves! Car thefts are difficult with such technology we agree but they are happening anyway, right? Also, these cameras are mainly installed for autopilot and if the main feature won’t work well for India, why should one pay for the cameras just to use it for security purposes?

  8. Unavailability of Key

    Tesla Valet Card

Do you know you need an app to unlock a Tesla? Well, if you are not carrying your phone or not able to access the app due to any reason, Tesla provides you with a valet card that you need to bring in contact with the B Pillar of the car in order to unlock it. This feature can also prove to be useless in India because this can make the vehicle more prone to theft. Thieves can hack your phone (easier than hacking a Tesla of course!) or can duplicate your valet card. We know the current key fobs will get to this stage anyhow we need more time to adapt as of now.

These were the 8 Tesla features that we think can prove to be useless if we consider the present situation of the Indian roads and infrastructure. We are a developing nation and are on the path of technology for sure. But we need more time to set up the infrastructure and adapt to the oncoming technologies as of now. What do you think about Tesla’s arrival in India? Do let us know in the comments section below!
