The Chinese-owned British carmaker is delighted with the response from the Indian market for the Hector and ZS EV. MG Motors is now planning to enter the sub-10 lakh price segment too. This segment is a popular one in the country with major brands already offering many cars in this range.
MG Motors is structuring the next phase for expanding the line-up with a new production facility in India. The new facility will be able to produce around 2 lakh vehicles per year. SAIC will invest in addition to the 5,000 crores initially planned for the market.
Rajeev Chaba, MD and President of MG Motors has confirmed that the carmaker is readying multiple cars across multiple segments. He has stated company’s plans to introduce a sub-10 lakh electric car, the segment in which this price is tapped by very few companies at this time.
