12 Most Awaited Electric Vehicles To Check Out at Auto Expo 2020

With future mobility theme, electric vehicles are set to take the centre stage at the Auto Expo 2020. The carmakers are leaving no stone unturned to make their presence felt at the Auto Expo 2020. The largest automobile exhibition of the country will be seeing the likes of some of the much-awaited electric cars showcased at the Auto Expo 2020.

Car manufacturers ranging from Mercedes Benz to Maruti Suzuki will be showing their electric prowess at the 6-day event.

So let’s have a look at the electric vehicles which will be taking their place at the different pavilions.

  1. Renault Kwid EV

    Renault recently launched the electric version of its successful hatchback, the Kwid. The company will now be showcasing the vehicle at the Auto Expo 2020. The version gets a makeover inside-out.

    The front gets some new styling elements, which might also be the basis of the upcoming facelifted version of the Renault Kwid. A 26.8kWh lithium-ion will be powering the car, providing it with a range of 240 kilometres. The battery will be churning out a torque of 125 Nm and giving it a top speed of 105 kmph.

  2. Mahindra eKUV

    The electronic version of Mahindra’s compact SUV will be showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. The car is expected to make its presence felt at the auto show.

    eKUV is said to be a replacement for the Mahindra e20 and will be powered by the similar drivetrain as in the eVerito, with some tweaks to make the ride better. The car is expected to be launched at the end of 2020 or early 2021.

  3. Tata Nexon EV

    Tata already launched their first EV a few days back with much pomp and hype. With the popular SUV entering the electric vehicle domain, Tata seems bullish.

    The battery pack in the Nexon EV will generate 130 bhp of power and a torque of 245 Nm. The car recently got a certified range of 300 + kilometres from ARAI, which might turn out to be a potential USP for the Indian carmaker.

  4. MG ZS EV

    The MG is already off to a great start with the Hector turning the fortunes in the favour of the company.

    MG is looking forward to launching its electric offering, the MG ZS EV this year. The car will be available with automatic transmission and will be churning out a massive torque of 353 Nm from its 44.5kWh battery pack.

  5. Kia Soul EV

    After riding high on the success of the Seltos and now readying themselves for the launch of the Carnival MPV, the South Korean manufacturer will be entering the EV domain.

    The carmaker will be showcasing the Soul EV at the Auto Expo 2020. While the Soul EV will be launched at the Expo there isn’t much about the vehicle revealed yet. The car is expected to have a max torque of 353 Nm and a power of 203.94 PS.

  6. Mahindra XUV300 Electric

    Mahindra launched the XUV300 and has been receiving accolades for the same for its safety, performance and styling. However, the other part of the story is, Mahindra will be coming up with the electric version of the compact SUV which will be displayed at the Auto Expo 2020.

    The car might not see much modifications when it comes to the exterior. However, beneath the hood, the car will be powered by batteries developed in South Korea.

    XUV300 is expected to come in variants depending upon the range. While the less expensive one will be suitable for within the city, the upper variant will have intercity range.

    The Chinese automaker set up an R&D centre at Bangalore in 2016 which cemented the rumours regarding the company foraying the Indian market.

    The Great Wall Motors has reportedly set up a manufacturing plant in Gujarat for its cars. Apart from a slew of different vehicles, there will be a range of EVs on display at the Auto Expo 2020.

    The company confirmed that the EV which is to be unveiled at the Expo is an electric SUV, an electric iteration of the popular Havel SUV which is expected to go on sale by 2025. Apart from the Haval SUV, the Ora R1, the cheapest electric car in the world will be coming in at the Auto Expo 2020.

  8. Mercedes Benz EQC and EQS

    The luxury carmaker will be bringing in the electric SUV EQC and its electric sedan the EQS. The EQ range is Mercedes’s take on electric vehicles. The EQC SUV is powered by two electric motors which are mounted on each of the axles.

    This set up generates a whopping 765 Nm of torque which gives the car some unprecedented capabilities. The car comes with two different sets of motors. While one of them is made for adventurous driving, the other one provides efficiency to the vehicle.

    The car comes with fast charging capabilities which can charge the car from 10 to 80 per cent in a 40-minute charge. The EQS sedan, on the other hand, comes with a motor which churns out 350 kW of power and 760 Nm of torque. Mercedes has claimed a range of 700 kilometres for the electric car.

  9. Mahindra Atom EV

    The Indian carmaker will be launching its electric quadricycle at the Auto Expo 2020. The vehicle is expected to be pitched against the Bajaj Qute.

    The Mahindra Atom will use a 48 kW battery pack and will be assembled in Mahindra’s Bengaluru plant. The Atom will have a power output of less than 15 kW and the top-speed will be limited to 70 kmph.

  10. Maruti Suzuki Futuro-E Concept

    Home-grown Maruti has already stated they will be focusing on producing cleaner technology for the masses.

    The company is expected to launch the Futuro E electric concept at the Auto Expo 2020. While the company has been tight-lipped about the details, it is being speculated that the concept will be an electric vehicle in the compact SUV segment.

  11. Mercedes Benz EQA Concept

    After bringing in the production-spec EQS and EQC at the Auto Expo 2020, Mercedes will be bringing in the EQA for display at the show.

    The EQA is based upon the GLA hatchback from Mercedes. A 271 PS/499 Nm electric motor will power the Mercedes EQA. The car will be able to go from 0 to 100 in just 5 seconds.

  12. Maruti Suzuki WagonR Electric

The domestic car manufacturer hasn’t left itself behind when it comes to manufacturing EVs for the Indian car market. There have been reports that MSIL will be launching its electric car based upon the WagonR for the Indian markets at the Auto Expo 2020.

The car will have split headlamps set up in the front. The WagonR EV will be expected to have a charging time of seven hours with the standard AC charger, while the fast charging capability is still in test.

Most of the car manufacturers are making sure that they don’t get left behind on the electric vehicle bandwagon. The Auto Expo 2020 is surely going to be an exciting one.
