Almost all affordable cars come with at least a reverse camera. But at times, installing a camera is the only thing that the carmaker does, and forgets to check the clarity. For instance, the reversing camera of budget cars is usually of low resolution and the environment in the view is either blurred or pixelated.

Nowadays, most of the cars that cost Rs. 8 lakhs and more get a keyless entry and go feature. This feature requires a keyfob to operate this heavy machinery. Well, at times this feature is not the problem, but the oversized key fobs that the carmakers provide. Having a huge fob makes it difficult to keep it in the pocket.

For one it looks ugly protruding from the pocket, secondly, it is uncomfortable and hurts. One of the carmakers that do this is Tata. Really, these key fobs are huge. On the contrary, Nissan offers a card which is convenient and also looks elegant.

Jarvis, pull up the navigation! It’ll be fun if we have an AI named Javis. Fun aside, right now the voice commands need a lot of polishing. Almost all the cars that come with a touch screen infotainment system get the voice command feature. Where you think voice commands are useful and convenient, they are pretty dangerous.

Let’s talk: Underrated VS Overrated Car Features In India!

Allow me to explain. For one, the voice commands feature is slow, so instead of speaking a press of a button will be quicker and less effortless. Next, many a time these commands don’t work and you’d have to either repeat or whatever seems necessary. This will definitely distract you and annoy you if you are the driver.

An air conditioner is an amenity that no one especially in India can resist, considering the weather in summers. Now, in many new-age cars, the AC controls have been modernized. By that, we meant many cars get touch controls for the car HVAC or are in the infotainment system in the car. Even the touch controls are of two types. One, where the car has dedicated HVAC touch controls, just like the 4th gen Honda City or the new Skoda Kushaq.

Next, when the controls are provided on the screen, which takes a lot more than a press of a button just to change the temperature. These controls are present in the MG Hector. Be it any touch control, they sound cool, but in actual operation, they are rather irritating.

Before the BS6 era, many cars back then had a lot of chimes. Chimes for the door not closed, one to indicate that the car is in accessory mode, and also how can we forget the seat belt reminders. To be exact, that was super annoying. There was only one thing left to annoy the occupants, chimes while driving.

Et Voila, after the implementation of the BS6 norms, BNVSAP were going in a different direction altogether. These new vehicles have not one but two dynamic chimes. One when the car hits a speed of 80kmph and the next at 120kmph which just continues to beep. This is where it is a little dangerous, focus on the road or the chime. The most apparent cost-cutting measure the car manufacturers take is to eliminate the less-used component. And what’s better than the spare tyre that the cars come with? Also, do remember the component should hamper the reliability or performance of the vehicle. So, the company saves big and gains a lot with a space-saver tyre.

For instance, a space-saver saves space and allows for more space. And omitting the wheel altogether allows for weight saving as well as cost. Instead, now companies like Tata Motors have started providing puncture repair kits with the vehicle. Which indeed is cheaper than a full wheel. But be it cost cutting, it is annoying.

Okay, many phones do come with a Type-C to Type-C charging cable, but the majority still get a Type-C to USB cable. Hence only a Type-C port forces an unnecessary purchase of a cable that is compatible.

The next one is something that is always a part of a car with an automatic transmission, but not so much in a car with a manual transmission. A deal pedal is something that has become a necessity on every car.

Here are the Most Awaited Upcoming Cars In India – August 2022

Drivers driving a manual tend to rest their left foot on the clutch. And doing so is a rather bad habit as it wears the clutch a little bit more. Hence, having a dead petal is more crucial.

  10. Limited seat and steering adjustment

Most manufacturers offer only the tilt function, and it is definitely annoying to see why they cannot provide the telescopic too on all variants. It is definitely not a complex mechanism, and if offered, it only makes the car so much better and more comfortable. Additionally, at times in lower variants of a vehicle carmaker omits the height adjustment for that driver seat.

Let’s talk about Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Variant Wise Features Explained

Everybody is not of the same height and hence will not have the same reachability, so having this feature is more of an advantage. If the car sells well because of the same reason, then the manufacturer also benefits from it.
