Tata HBX Top-Spec Variant Spied Testing as Launch Nears

This might be the 100th time when Tata’s first micro-SUV, the Tata BX has been spotted testing. But this time it is the top-spec variant that has been spotted. Tata first showcased the HBX at the 2020 Auto Expo and manages to grab a lot of attention, all thanks to its quirky yet chic design elements.

However. these latest set of images reveal the interiors of the soon to launch Tata HBX/Hornbill. Looking at the images the interior looks quite similar to that of the concept showcased at the Auto Expo.

• Going by the spy shots, the HBX will feature a three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel, semi-digital instrument cluster, push start/stop, 7.0-inch instrument cluster similar to that on the Nexon.
• We also get to see a speaker setup placed near the A-pillar, automatic climate control buttons, USB charging, 12-V charging socket, cruise control and an extra storage compartment placed beneath the AC controls.
• Additional features include ambient lighting, LED DRLs (housed below the headlight setup), LED fog lamps, a tall-riding design and a sleek looking grille on the outside, a new dashboard design and dual-tone upholstery to name a few.

What about power?

• The HBX micro SUV will come with an Altroz sourced 1.2-litre Revotron petrol mill.
• The engine generates 85bhp and 113Nm of peak torque while paired to a standard 5-speed manual and an optional AMT.
• The is based on Tata’s ALFA architecture and the Impact 2.0 design inherited from the Tata Altroz and will be positioned under the Tata Nexon.
• With its launch, the Tata HBX/Hornbill will lock its horn with the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the Renault Kwid.
