2020 Hyundai Creta to get 6 New RIVALS by 2021

With the 2020 Hyundai Creta ready to step-up the game on the March 16th 2020. The next-gen Hyundai Creta will also try and retain its position as the best selling SUV of India from its Cousin the Kia Seltos.

Not only that the upcoming the new compact SUV will also be facing tough competition from some of the SUVs which are expected to launch soon as some of them were also previewed at this year’s auto expo. Let’s have a look at them.

  1. Volkswagen Taigun

    Expected Launch- April
    Price Range- Rs 10 Lakh to 16 Lakh

    With Volkswagen thinking of ditching the diesel engine with the soon to come BS6 era VW has been planning to launch several SUVs for the domestic market under the company’s India 2.0 plan with one of them being the Taigun compact SUV which will be built on VW newly localised MQB A0 IN platform.

    We can expect the Taigun compact SUV to get its power from a new 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine pushing the power output to 108 hp with 200 Nm of peak torque and a 1.5-litre TSI unit giving out 148 hp with 250 of peak torque. Although the Taigun SUV will be a bit smaller than the 2020 Hyundai Creta however it will come packed with premium features such as a massive 10.25 inches touchscreen infotainment system, connected car tech and a fully digital instrument cluster.

  2. MG ZS (Petrol)

    Expected Launch: March 2021
    Price Range: Rs 12 lakh to Rs 17 lakh

    The MG ZS is offered in the domestic market as a pure EV. However, with the immense success of the MG ZS EV MG has thought to bring out the petrol version of the ZS to enter the compact SUV segment to take on the 2020 Hyundai Creta.

    The ZS (Petrol) will make its debut with a facelift and is likely to be offered with a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine generating 157 hp with 230 Nm of peak torque. Feature-wise we can expect the MG ZS to have 6-airbags, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

  3. Haval F5

    Expected Launch: 2021
    Price Range: Rs 12 lakh to Rs 17 lakh

    The years auto expo marked the Indian debut form many Chinese automakers with one of them being the Great Wall Motors showcasing the Haval F5 compact SUV which will not only the company’s first product but will also directly rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta.

    The new Chinese product is likely to get a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine churning upto 165 hp with 285 Nm of peak torque while the engine will also come paired to a 7-speed DCT. However, we can also expect a manual transmission option as well. Additionally, this Creta rival will also come feature-packed as the current China-spec model comes equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and the list goes on.

  4. Skoda Vision IN

    Expected Launch: April 2021
    Price Range: Rs 10 lakh to Rs 16 lakh

    The Vision will be built on the company’s MQB A0 In platform, which also underpins the new Volkswagen Taigun. The Skoda Vision In made its debut at this year’s Auto Expo. As per the Vision board (the Engine spec card), This 2020 Hyundai Creta rival will share its engine with the VW Taigun. However, rumour has it that the Skoda vision IN will also be offered in a CNG variant as well.

    Talking about the features it is likely that the Vision IN will share its features with the VW Taigun.

  5. Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Petrol

    Expected Launch: April 2020
    Price Range: Rs 8.5 lakh to Rs 12 lakh

    Yes, Its true finally the Maruti Suzuki S-cross is about to get a petrol variant for the very first time. Its previous 1.3-litre diesel engine is about to get replaced by an all-new 1.5-litre petrol unit being offered in the Ertiga, XL-6, and the all-new 2020 Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The petrol unit powering the s-cross will generate 103 hp with 138 Nm of peak torque along with an option of either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed AMT.

  6. Renault Duster Turbo

    Expected Launch: August 2020
    Price Range: Rs 13 lakh

Just like its competitor’s French carmaker, Renault has also decided to discontinue its diesel line-up. The Duster will feature an all-new 1.3-litre turbo-petrol unit for its new Turbo variant. The new engine will make 154 hp with 250 Nm of peak torque paired to either a 6-speed manual or a CVT. The new Renault Duster was first showcased at the recently held Auto Expo 2020. With an all-new engine, the Renault Duster turbo will become the most powerful SUV making it a worthy contender to rival the 2020 Hyundai Creta.
