A few days back, 3 Indian cars tested at the Global NCAP returned poor results. Well, things seem to have changed as the 2020 Mahindra Thar has been tested and scored a 4-star rating at the Global NCAP. What’s more interesting is that the off-roader scored an impressive 4-star rating for the child occupancy, making it second in the country after the Mahindra XUV300. Well, we know that there is a long waiting period for the ultimate offroader, Mahindra Thar has surely made us proud and the Indian roads safe.
2020 Mahindra Thar: The Safe Offroader
The ultimate offroader was introduced on 15th August, revealing a whole new avatar. It is not just an offroader now, people can use it for daily travel too. And the safety ratings don’t seem to differ at all.
For the adult occupancy, 2020 Mahindra Thar scored 12.52 out of 17, missing the 5-star rating from just 1.48 points. The major point to be noted is that the structure has been rated stable. It really comes as a relief that the car has got a good structure, making it great for offroading. But, the footwell area has been rated unstable. Mahindra offers Seatbelt Restraints for the driver as well as the passenger.

Coming to child safety, let me tell you, your whole family is safe in this offroader. It is the second car in India and from Mahindra to score a 4-star rating for the child occupancy. The 2020 Mahindra Thar has scored 41.11 out of 49, which is an impressive score. Thar offers ISOFIX child seat anchorages at the rear seats. Due to the 3-point seatbelt and ISOFIX, Thar gave full protection to the child occupant.
