Czech auto giant Škoda has recently stated in a release that the company’s 2020 Škoda Octavia has managed to secure a 5-star safety rating in the independent European New Car Assessment Programme.
Škoda has also claimed that Octavia is one of the safest compact models in the market with 88 per cent score for Child Occupant Protection. In the Adult Occupant Protection category, the sedan scored 92 per cent.

Much recently latest round of crash tests were conducted by the Euro NCAP which includes the India-bound Porsche Taycan and the Tesla Model X.
However these tests were conducted on the Octavia 1.5 TSI Ambition wagon only, the test result will be applicable across all versions and variants. Including the current model of 1.0-litre petrol, 2.0-litre petrol model, 1.0-litre petrol/mild-Hybrid, 1.5-litre petrol/mild-Hybrid, 1.5-litre CNG, and 2.0-litre diesel variants.
The only exception will be the 2020 Škoda Octavia 1.4-litre petrol/plug-in hybrid variant which has just entered the current hybrid squad and requires further testing to determine its “mass outside tolerance” according to the test result.

The 2020 Škoda Octavia features various new driver assistance systems like Collision-Avoidance Assist, Turn Assist etc.
Additional features on the 2020 Škoda Octavia include Front Assist system comprising Predictive Pedestrian and Cyclist Protection uses visual and acoustic signals and gentle brake activation to warn of a potential collision, and automatically applies the brakes in an emergency, the company said.
Commenting on this achievement, Škoda Auto board member for technical growth Christian Strube, said “We’re very proud of the five-star Euro NCAP check rating for the brand new Octavia. We work onerous to take our automobiles’ energetic and passive security to ever-higher ranges and supply highway customers with most safety.”
