Dear Bhimu, thanks for being an avid reader of the GoMechanic Blog. The term “SUV” is an umbrella term that can be used to refer to full-sized SUVs, Compact SUVs, Sub-Compact SUVs etc. Since automakers have found out ways to avail tax benefits, thereby giving rise to compact and sub compact SUVs, the term SUV can still be used to refer to the wide variations that are now existing within the market.
