With BS6 being enforced from April 2020 automobile companies are shifting to a BS6 compliant engine with Hyundai following suit with its Santro BS6. The engine details for the Hyundai Santro BS6 variant were released and it is not that big of a surprise.
- The engine on the Santro BS6 will be a 1.1 Litre, four-cylinder petrol engine which will now be BS6 compliant.
- It will still have the same power as the earlier engine which is in the form of 69hp power and 99Nm of torque.
- The transmission option will be limited to a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed AMT.
- Efficiency is expected to drop as the new BS6 engines are less fuel-efficient.
Hyundai Santro BS6 is expected to have Automatic in the base variants this time around instead of only being available on Magna to make it more lucrative to consumers.

Visually not a lot of changes are expected on the Santro BS6 except an upgrade in the emission norm compliance.
- Dashboard design is expected to be same and change ever so slightly if Hyundai decides to make Santro a bit more appealing.
- High-end variant Hyundai Santro Asta is expected to get a touch screen infotainment system.
- Other features expected in the high-end variants are reverse camera, rear wash/ wipe, steering mounted control and power-adjustable rearview mirrors.
- It will also feature Android Auto and Apple Carplay support making linking and controlling car features with mobile phone easier.

Price for the Hyundai Santro BS6 is not revealed yet but it is expected to be dearer than the current available Hyundai Santro as BS6 engines need more parts along with them thus being a bit more costly.
Hyundai Santro BS6 will be bleeding into the market of Tata Tiago, Maruti Suzuki Wagon R and Celerio in India.
