International MG Cars That We Want In India

MG has established itself in the Indian market and is working on more. Our market gets a diverse portfolio of products from every manufacturer, but some cars never make it to India. Hector had a significant contribution for the brand to enter the market, and then they added others such as ZS EV, Gloster & Astor. But there are some more MG cars we want in India:

As the SUV & MPV segment is growing in India, this car could spice up the competition among the MPVs. MG 360M is the rebadged version of the Baojun 360, showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. Ertiga has been ruling the segment since the launch, but now even Kia Carnival is capturing the market.

As both are in high demand with waiting periods, a new launch will capture some market. It is powered by a 1.5-litre engine churning out 110hp & 146Nm torque mated to a 6-speed MT or CVT. It will be equipped with more premium features if it makes its way to the Indian market.

The hatchback segment was the most selling segment for a significant time. Despite the changing trend, hatchbacks are not expected to go out of sale in India. This is MG’s smallest hatchback sold outside India. As the brand only planned to launch SUVs, this car has not been considered.

The UK spec variant offers a 105hp engine mated to a 5-speed MT with excellent fuel efficiency. This could be their entry-level product in the lineup with a powerful engine and some new features. This little car has some potential to perform in the Indian market.

MG4 EV

As electric vehicles are getting more popular in India, another EV candidate might be a great idea. Currently, MG only offers the ZS EV in India, so that another product will be needed with rising competition.

This pure EV hatchback can be positioned below the ZS EV and be another affordable offering. The UK spec version offers a range of 450 kilometres and two battery options, including a 64kWh. It is also equipped with features like a 360° Parking Camera, Satellite Navigation, Heated Front Seats and Steering Wheel, and Mobile Phone Bluetooth Key.

Extender

MG cars India

The pickup truck segment is gradually growing in India with new competitors. Currently, we only have Hilux & Isuzu V-Cross as lifestyle pickup trucks. MG can launch the Extender in India as their candidate in the segment. It is a pickup truck based on the same platform as the luxury SUV Gloster.

It is an extensive product with a dynamic Brit concept with a rugged & sleek exterior and a comfortable & modern interior. The global version is powered by a 2-litre turbocharged diesel engine making 161hp & 375Nm torque. It offers performance and fuel efficiency with premium features.
