Kia is planning on stepping up its game in India. Today, Kia’s line-up in India is nothing compared to the cars they sell globally. With the premium SUV segment gaining popularity, Kia wants to make a mark there. Currently, only the Toyota Fortuner and the MG Gloster are available in this segment. The Kia Sorento sits in the same segment, and Kia may bring it to India next year! It’s a 7-seater SUV that gets a full-blown 4WD system as well. Here’s a comparison of the Kia Sorento VS rivals!

Kia Sorento VS rivals – Design
The aesthetics of the cars in this segment has become monotonous. Both the Fortuner and the Gloster have not been properly updated in a while, and the Endeavour is gone. The Kia Sorento will be a fresh, modern, and handsome-looking addition to this segment. We know that there is a massive fan base for the Fortuner, but the Sorento just looks better. It sits a bit lower, but it is longer and wider. It doesn’t try to look too aggressive, but it is huge. The Gloster on the other hand is the biggest car here. However, it is not the best-looking car. The Sorento clearly wins this point in the comparison of Kia Sorento VS rivals.

Kia Sorento VS rivals – Engines
Again, the Kia Sorento gets the strongest engine options. It gets a 2.2L diesel engine that makes around 202HP. It also gets a 1.6L petrol engine with the options of a hybrid and a plug-in hybrid. The self-charging hybrid setup along with the 1.6L engine makes about 230HP. The plug-in hybrid setup along with the turbo petrol engine makes 265HP. While the numbers for the diesel engine are comparable to the competition, the petrol engines steal the show here!
The Toyota Fortuner also gets 2 engine options, a 2.8L diesel, and a 2.7L petrol. The petrol unit makes 164HP and 245nm, while the diesel makes 201HP and 500nm. Transmission options include a 6-speed AT and a 6-speed manual.
The MG Gloster gets only one engine option. It is a 2L diesel unit that makes 212HP and 478nm. It is only available with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The Kia Sorento steps ahead in this point of comparison of the Kia Sorento VS rivals because of the sheer number of options it has!

Features
Starting with the Fortuner, because the list is so small (lol). The Fortuner doesn’t stand anywhere near the MG Gloster or the Kia Sorento. The only comparable feature it gets is ventilated front seats and an electronic tailgate. The MG Gloster on the other hand is loaded to the brim. It gets a panoramic sunroof, ADAS tech, ambient lighting, massaging driver’s seat, a 12-inch infotainment unit, and much more. The Kia Sorento also gets all these features. What sets it apart is the twin-screen unit for the driver’s display and the infotainment. This gives it a very premium look and instantly enhances its appeal.
