Mahindra has launched the much-awaited Scorpio-N into the market. The Big Daddy of SUVs, as they call it, has finally arrived. This SUV was spied testing several times and has been hyped more than the XUV700. It sits between the Thar & XUV700 while sharing powertrains & features from both SUVs. Scorpio has a massive fan following in India; this will be their second big launch after the XUV700!
Powertrain & Transmission
Scorpio-N will be available with the same powertrain as the XUV700 but in a different state of tune. There will be two engines on offer; a 2.0-litre turbo Stallion petrol churning out 200hp & 380Nm torque engine & a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine making 175hp & 400Nm torque.

A 6-speed manual transmission will be standard with both engines with an optional automatic torque converter gearbox equipped shift by cable tech. However the 4WD will be exclusive to the diesel engine. It has a body-on-frame chassis with RWD as standard, unlike the XUV700. Among other new features, it gets the Penta Link rear suspension & frequency-dependent damping. It comes with a 4Xplor variant offering the following drive modes to tackle any terrain: Tarmac, Mud, Snow & Desert.
Design & Features
Scorpio-N is a massive SUV with a brawny road presence with dual projector LED headlamps & C-shaped LED DRL housings for the foglamps. It also gets the signature front chrome grill with 6-vertical slates along with the new twin-peaks logo placed in the middle.

The taillights are similar to the Volvo XC90 and give a premium styling to the rear fascia. It has a muscular design with sleek cuts running through the side profile along with roof rails on the top and stands on new 18-inch alloy wheels.
This third-generation Scorpio also gets a new interior with a long list of features. Scorpio-N gets a freshly designed dashboard with a new steering and an 8-inch Adrenox-powered touchscreen infotainment system. It also gets a first-in-segment feature with Alexa connect for navigation what3words.

There is also a more extensive MID display between the analogue tachometer & speedometer. It gets dual-tone upholstery along with new features such as dual-zone climate control, Sony 3D surround sound system driver drowsiness alerts & connected car tech. In addition to that, safety-wise, Scorpio-N is equipped with up to 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera, ABS with EBD, hill hold/descent control, Advanced ESC, disc brakes for all wheels, and much more.

Scorpio-N will be available in two seating configurations; a 7-seater layout with 3-row seats and a 6-seater layout with captain seats. It will be offered in a range of variants from Z2 to Z8 & Z8Ldistributed through a price range of ₹11.99-19.49 lakhs ex-showroom with the bookings opening on 30th July. Overall Scorpio-N has a bold design with advanced technology & promising performance that is set to rule the segment.
