Mercedes Benz is planning to launch quite a bunch of products this year in the Indian market. The luxury carmaker kickstarted the year with 4 launches in the first quarter itself and now plans to launch the A-Class Limousine and the new GLA later this year. Mercedes had a relatively quiet 2019 therefore, they aim to do better this year. The A-Class Limousine and the second-gen GLA were showcased at the auto expo. Mercedes has now indicated towards the launch of these two in the third and the fourth quarter of 2020 respectively.
The A-Class Limousine from Mercedes will replace the already existing CLA and will be the new entry-level sedan in the Indian portfolio. We can expect this sedan to be offered in A200 variant with a 163hp, 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine and the A 180d trim with a 116hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine. The price expectation of this sedan is around Rs.32-40 lakhs while the AMG version will obviously be priced much higher.
Apart from the Mercedes Benz A-Class Limousine, we can also expect the new-gen GLA to arrive here by the fourth quarter of this year. This generation gets a more upright stance and muscular styling on the outside and a revamped cabin design which is equipped with most of the modern-day gadgets and equipment. The GLA 220d and the GLA will be powered by a 190hp, 2.0-litre diesel engine and a 163hp, 1.3-litre turbo-petrol mill respectively. We can expect the GLA to be priced around RS. 40 Lakhs. An AMG branded GLA 35 with 305hp can also be on cards really soon.
Despite the pandemic outbreak and the ongoing lockdown, the German automaker has got no change in its plans about the new launches. The Mercedes EQC was also planned to be launched this month but has been delayed to the second half of 2020.
