NHAI To Remove Speed Breakers From National Highways!

NHAI is trying hard to revamp the national highways in India. The toll collection system is now modernised and FASTag is used by most of the cars. It will be mandatory from January 15th, 2020 for all the cars to have a FASTag. NHAI is working on developing FASTag lanes on each toll plaza for faster and smoother toll collection.

Whoa! FASTag reading machine faulty? No need to pay any toll.

All the toll plazas have speed breakers or rumble strips. These are meant to slow down the vehicles to ensure they go through the toll plazas at low speeds. NHAI has decided to convert the cash lanes into FASTag lanes therefore, they have decided to remove all the speed breakers and the rumble strips as well.

Speed breakers cause a delay in journeys, inconvenience to the passengers, damage to the vehicle and more fuel consumption. All of this can be avoided by eliminating the speed breakers. NHAI has setup speed breakers at multiple locations on different national highways.

These were intended to make the traffic move safely. At the same time, it is also necessary at some places to let the traffic move fast and keep flowing without any hindrance.

NHAI has started removing the speed breakers and rumble strips at the toll plazas. This will ensure a smoother movement of traffic as the cash lanes have become FASTag lanes now. People are paying tolls by FASTag so the speed breakers are now useless as they will only cause the unnecessary slowdown of the traffic. This won’t help in any way.

The NHAI aims at saving time and money by removing speed breakers from the national highways of India. The emergency vehicles like the ambulance and fire services will be able to commute faster. Smooth journeys will also ensure maximum comfort for elderly people. The unnecessary slowing down will be avoided which will increase the fuel economy and will ultimately help us to become self-dependent for fuels.

The government said positive effects of electronic toll collection (ETC) are being realised by the commuters on toll plazas. Introduction of speed breakers-free highways is another step in commitment to provide a safe, smooth and seamless journey to commuters on national highways.
