Renault Grand Duster 7-Seater Coming Soon?

We guess deriving 7-seater cars without working on a new design is becoming the new trend now. Tata derived the Safari from Harrier’s design, Hyundai is about to launch the Alcazar which looks exactly the same as the Creta and now, doing rounds on the internet, is a picture from the ad shoot of Renault’s upcoming 7-seater car. Wondering, why did we refer to Safari and Alcazar at first? This is because Renault’s upcoming 7-seater is none other than the 7-seater version of the already successful, Renault Duster. We will know it by the name of Grand Duster. Here’s all that we know about it till now.

  1. It’s a 7-seater (Of Course!)

The major highlight about this car is that it will be a 7-seater for sure. While every carmaker was planning to extend their existing 5-seaters into 7-seaters, Renault thought of doing the same to step their game up and be in the competition for the 7-seater cars. What do you think, Renault Grand Duster will be able to stand along with the likes in the Indian market?

  2. Similar Overall Appearance

In the latest picture that is being circulated online, we can see that the Renault Grand Duster looks similar to the already existing 5-seater version. Although, thinner headlamps, a silver forward skid plate, roof rails, unique alloy wheels and silver ORVMs are quite noticeable and add to the overall look of the car. In short, if you see it from the front, you won’t be able to guess a 5 or 7 seater just like you most probably aren’t able to guess in the case of harrier and Safari.

  3. What’s Inside?

Talking about the cabin of the 7-seater Renault Grand Duster, we don’t know much because the last time we saw it, it was still under the wraps. However, we can assume it to have infotainment with the latest features and updates where Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will be standard. Also, we can expect it to have some features taken from the Dacia Sandero. It is not known if it will be offered in a 6 seater variant but you can expect the middle row to have captain seats as standard.

  4. Engine & Transmission

Talking about the engine specs, we can expect it to have no change under the hood. The same 1.5-litre petrol and 1.3-litre petrol engine will continue to power it. Although, we expect Renault to add automatic gearbox options before bringing it to India or even Europe because 7-seater cars are meant to deliver comfort on long routes and Renault Grand Duster will definitely need to be a class apart in order to compete with Safari and Alcazar! If they introduce a 4 wheel drive with this one in India, no one can stop it from going places!

  5. Rivals

Once here, the Renault Grand Duster will rival the already existing MG Hector Plus, the Tata Safari and the upcoming Hyundai Alcazar. We suppose by the time every brand plans to bring in the 7-seater versions of their already existing 5 seater cars, Maruti will also plan something with the Brezza (No official news though). What do you think?

Renault Grand Duster is expected to launch in Europe by the end of this year and we can expect it to launch here in India by 2022. Will you buy this car if launched in India in the next year. Consider all the options in the segment and let us know which would you choose and why!
