It’s finally the day when Tata Motors has officially unveiled the much-awaited Tata Punch. Effectively a micro SUV, the Punch will lock horns with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ignis, KUV 100 etc. The official unveiling has taken place just hours ago, and here’s everything you need to know about the Tata Punch.
The Tata Punch, much like the Altroz will be built on Tata’s ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) architecture. However, the Punch has a higher ground clearance of 187 mm and a larger boot space of about 366-litres as compared to the Altroz. And since the Punch also supports the ALFA ARC, it is likely that the vehicle will also score a 5-star safety score as and when it is tested. Safety-wise, the Punch will also get dual airbags, ISOFIX mounts, along with ABS and EBD as standard.
Focusing on the growth of SUVs in India, Tata Motors highlighted that there is a product vacuum in the sub-4-metre SUV segment and that the Punch is there to tackle that vacuum. Adding more about the Punch, Tata’s Head Marketing PV and EV Unit, Vivek Srivatsa added that the punch is built upon 5 pillars which include — commanding driving position, higher ground clearance, a spacious and wider cabin, impeccable safety, performance and agility.
Design and Styling
Coming to exterior design, the all-new Tata Punch will be based on the company’s Impact Design 2.0 and will come with Harrier like split headlamp design. Other than that there will be dual-tone bumpers, a thick, single slat grille, fog lights, 16-inch dual-tone alloys, 90-degree opening doors, C-pillar mounted rear door handles and LED Taillights etc.
Interior and Features
Loaded with ample features on the inside as well, the vehicle will bring in dual-tone interiors, seven-inch floating touchscreen infotainment, a 7 inch MID, cruise control, automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel, rectangular AC vents with contrast accents, iRA technology, a cooled glove-box and much more.
Engine and Transmission
Under the hood of the vehicle will be a 1.2-litre petrol engine with Dynapro technology. The burner will be mated to either a 5-speed manual or AMT. The Tata Punch will also come with an idle-start stop feature for improved efficiency while the AMT trims will also get a segment-first Traction Pro mode for increased traction. The engine will go from 0 to 100 in about 16.5 seconds.

As per the official unveil the all-new Tata Punch will be offered in four trims that include: Pure, Adventure, Accomplished and Creative. All variants will bring in ample features onboard.
