Kia now armed with this knowledge is readying-up a luxurious MPV that can very well shake the throne of the segment goliath, the Toyota Innova. This is the Kia Carnival!
The Toyota Innova has been the king of the MPV segment for almost decades now. The Innova (along with the Fortuner) is a money minting car for Toyota in India. In fact, the high price of the Innova hasn’t deterred people from buying it and owners claim that the Innova is the best and the most comfortable car to drive and to be driven in.
But everything is about to change as Kia is preparing to deploy the Carnival MPV in India. The Kia Carnival luxury MPV will be showcased at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo and the deliveries for the car will begin by mid-January.

The Kia Carnival will sport a BS6 compliant 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine capable of producing 200PS of power and 440 Nm of torque. The Carnival MPV will use the front-wheel-drive configuration with transmission duties done via an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
The Toyota Innova Crysta is available with 2 engine options. A BS6 compliant 2.7-litre 4-cylinder petrol and a BS6 compliant 2.4-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine. The diesel engine is capable of producing 150PS of power and 343 Nm of torque. Transmission options on the Toyota Innova include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Toyota Innova vs Kia Carnival | Features & Safety
As the Kia Carnival will be priced higher than the Innova Crysta, the Carnival will get more features both inside and outside.
The Kia Carnival will comes equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system enabled with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Carnival will also get Hyundai’s BlueLink connected car technology. The Toyota Innova gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
The Carnival and the Innova get separate AC vents for the front and rear occupants. The Kia however, gets a 3-zone automatic climate control. The Carnival will come with electrically sliding doors, which can be operated from the roof-mounted controls by the driver.
Both the Carnival and Innova feature captain seats for the second row, split-folding third-row seats, climate control, active cruise control and power-adjustable driver’s seat. The Carnival MPV in India will be offered with 7 and 8 seat options.

The Toyota Innova comes with 8-way power-adjustable driver seat, while the Carnival will have 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat and 8-way power-adjustable front passenger seat with memory functions.

The top variant of the Kia Carnival comes with up to 8 airbags, while the highest model of the Toyota Innova Crysta gets up to 7 airbags. Both Carnival and Innova get ESC, ABS with EBD and hill start assist. The Carnival will also receive adaptive cruise control, blind-spot detection, lane-change assists and rear cross-traffic alert.
Toyota Innova vs Kia Carnival | Dimensions
The Kia Carnival stands at 5,115mm in length, 1,985mm in width and 1,740mm in height which is around 380mm longer and 150mm wider than the Toyota Innova.
The Innova is 55mm taller than the Carnival. The Kia Carnival comes with a wheelbase of 3,060mm, which is 310mm longer than the Innova.
In terms of overall dimensions, the Kia Carnival emerges significantly bigger and more spacious than the Innova.
