20 Upcoming SUV Showcased At The Auto Expo 2020 | Launching Soon!

The week-long Auto Expo 2020 has finally come to an end. Although this year was a bit slow (thanks to the Great Indian Automobile Crisis of 2019) We saw some major releases from brands like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata. Chinese carmakers MG Motors, Great Wall Motors, Haima and Haval also made their entry. Electric vehicles (cars, motorcycle and scooters) were the highlight of the week. Here is a recap of 20 upcoming SUV cars that were showcased at the Auto Expo 2020.

  1. 2020 (Second-Gen) Hyundai Creta

    The Second-Gen 2020 Hyundai Creta was the most awaited car launch at the Auto Expo 2020. The car was launched by King Khan Shahrukh Khan himself. The new Creta shares its design from the Chinese-spec Hyundai ix25. The new Creta shares all the three engine from its brother from another mother; the Kia Seltos. The 2020 Creta is expected to cost in the range of 10 lakhs-16 lakhs (ex-showroom). Bookings for the Creta have already started in Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru for a token price of 10k-25k.

  2. 2020 Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza

    Another most awaited new car launch was Maruti Suzuki’s Sub-Compact SUV King; the Vitara Brezza Facelift. The New Brezza now sports a slightly new design on the exterior and interior. The Brezza also gets the new SmartPlay Studio 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system by Maruti. The trusty 1.3 DDiS is now replaced with a 1.5-litre petrol engine with both a manual and automatic options. Maruti Suzuki SHVS mild-hybrid system is also available in the new Brezza. Maruti Suzuki hasn’t yet commented on the prices of the 2020 Brezza, however, because the car now sports a 1.5-litre petrol engine, it no longer qualifies as a small car. Expect a price bump with the new Vitara Brezza!

  3. MG Gloster

    The MG Gloster will be rivalling the Ford Endeavour, Mahindra Alturas G4 and the segment leader; Toyota Fortuner in the Indian market. The MG Gloster is MG full-sized SUV and is even longer than the Land Cruiser LC200. The Gloster gets a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine churning 224hp and a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine making 218hp. The expected price of the MG Gloster in India will be in the 45 lakhs- 50 lakhs range.

  4. MG ZS Petrol

    MG has officially confirmed the arrival of the petrol variant of the MG ZS EV. The MG ZS Petrol gets minor cosmetic alterations than its electric counterpart. The MG ZS SUV gets 2 engine options; 1.0-litre turbo-petrol making 111 hp and 16 0Nm of torque and a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol rated at 125hp and 230Nm of peak torque.

  5. MG Hector PLUS

    The Hector just got bigger. This is the MG Hector “PLUS”, now with 6 and 7 seating options. MG showcased the 6-seater option at the Auto Expo 2020 but has confirmed a 7-seater version too. In comparison to the standard Hector, the Hector Plus gets minor cosmetic changes. The components and the engine, however, remain the same. The MG Hector Plus will rival the recently launched Tata Gravitas (7-seater Harrier) in India. Prices expected to be in the range of 13 lakhs-18 lakhs.

  6. Tata Gravitas

    The Tata Gravitas is essentially a 7-seater Harrier in disguise. The last row, instead of boot space gets 3rd row of seats. The new Tata Gravitas is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine churning out 170hp mated to a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox.

  7. Skoda Vision IN

    Skoda has conveniently positioned the Vision IN in the very competitive sub-compact SUV segment. Based on Volkswagen’s MQB A0 platform, the Skoda Vision IN will be available as a petrol-only SUV powered by a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine churning out 150hp. A CNG variant of the Skoda Vision IN is also expected.

  8. Volkswagen Taigun

    Also based on Volkswagen’s propriety MQB A0 platform, same as on the Skoda Vision IN. The Volkswagen and the Skoda SUVs share a lot of components between each other. The Volkswagen Taigun is powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol TSI engine.

  9. Skoda Karoq

    The Skoda Karoq is a mid-sized SUV that will be sold in India via the CBU (Completely Built-Up) route. The India-spec Karoq will be the same as the international version sold globally. Powered by a petrol-only 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, that produces 150hp mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch Automatic Transmission. The Karoq will feature a front-wheel-drive (FWD) layout The Skoda Karoq will rival the Jeep Compass in India.

  10. Volkswagen T-Roc

    Volkswagen T-Roc, similar to the Skoda Karoq will be a CBU car so, expect the prices to shoot sky-high. The T-Roc will be VW’s style-icon SUV in India. The India-bound Volkswagen T-Roc will get a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 150hp. The Volkswagen T-Roc is expected to cost around 23-35 lakhs.

  11. Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace

    The Tiguan Allspace is a bigger and better version of the standard Tiguan with a longer wheelbase and 7 seats. The CBU route Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace will be powered by 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine churning 190hp. Bookings for the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace have already started.

  12. 2020 Renault Duster

    The 2020 Renault Duster sheds the legendary K9K diesel engine and does with a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The 1.3-litre engine churns out 156hp making the Duster, the most powerful mid-sized SUV. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual and CVT automatic gearbox.

  13. 2020 Mercedes Benz GLA

    The 2020 Mercedes Benz GLA adopts a brand’s newest design language than the outgoing model. When Mercedes decided to launch the new GLA in India, it is expected to be available with a 2.0-litre diesel engine (190hp) in the GLA 220d and 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine in the GLA 200 (163hp). Bookings for the 2020 Mercedes GLA are open.

  14. Mahindra eXUV300 Electric SUV

    The Mahindra eXUV300 is an all-electric version of the petrol-powered XUV300. The Mahindra eXUV300 showcased at the Auto Expo looks very concept-like with the blue accents and a futuristic look. As of now, Mahindra hasn’t revealed the specs for the eXUV300. Mahindra, however at the Auto Expo 2020 has hinted on releasing two variants of the electric XUV300; a lower-range version with a smaller battery pack (Tata Nexon rival) and another one with a bigger battery and a longer range (MG ZS EV/Hyundai Kona rival). The expected prices for the Mahindra eXUV300 to be in the range of Rs 15 lakhs-20 lakh (ex-showroom).

  15. Hyundai Tucson Facelift

    The refreshed version of the Hyundai Tucson doesn’ look that much different than the outgoing one, to be honest. The SUV now gets a free-standing touchscreen, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging and many new tod-bits. The 2020 Hyundai Tucson is powered by a BS6 (Bharat Stage 6) 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines available only with  5 and 8-speed automatic transmissions. The Hyundai Tucson Facelift is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 19 lakhs-27 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

  16. Kia Sonet

    The Sonet is to Kia what the Venue is to Hyundai. Both these cars are essentially cousins but look way apart from each other. The Kia Sonet is distinctively muscular than the Hyundai Venue. The Kia Sonet plays the trump card by offering a 1.5-litre diesel engine option alongside the 1.2 petrol and the 1.0 turbo-petrol. The Sonet has also got more gadgets than the Venue using the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system straight from the Kia Seltos. The Kia Sonet is expected to be priced in the range of around Rs 7-12 lakh competing directly against the Hyundai Venue and the Mahindra XUV300.

  17. 2020 Force Gurkha

    Showcased first at Auto Expo 2020, the New Force Gurkha looks very similar to the outgoing one except that it’s all-new on the inside and now gets basic features such as power windows and a touchscreen infotainment system. The hull of the new Gurkha gets an upgrade too now featuring an all-new ladder-frame chassis and coil springs all around. The 2020 Force Gurha is powered by a 2.6-litre diesel engine producing 90 hp available with four-wheel-drive with lockable differentials. A two-wheel-drive with multiple bodyshell configurations and wheelbase options is also in works.

  18. Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Petrol

    The Maruti S-cross is now limited to petrol power ONLY. The S-cross petrol made its debut at Auto Expo 2020 with the K15B 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine derived straight from the existing Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Ertiga. As of now, Maruti hasn’t confirmed the availability of the SHVS mild-hybrid variant on the manual version, but the automatic will feature the SHVS technology. The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Petrol is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 8 lakhs-11 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

  19. Volkswagen I.D. Crozz

    The Volkswagen I.D. Crozz SUV concept is Volkswagen venture into the EV market in India. The all-electric I.D. Crozz will be powered by two electric motors; on the front and on the rear axle that’ll work in sync to make it an all-wheel-drive. The electric motors will have a combined output of 306hp and 450Nm of torque. The I.D. Crozz will feature an 83kWh battery pack with a range of over 500km.

  20. Tata Hexa BS6

    Tata is not giving up on the poor-selling Tata Hexa. This time in a revamped Hexa Safari Edition, showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. The “New” Hexa now come with a BS6 compliant version of the 2.2-litre Varicor diesel engine.
