Especially with the arrival of the compact and sub-compact SUVs like the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Tata Safari and more. Hyundai Creta (12,463 Units)
Yes, the Hyundai Creta swept the floor off the Indian automotive segment. The Creta has been a consistent performer since its launch. India is just loving the Creta in its new avatar. The Creta sold 12,463 units in the month of April 2021 which is 177 units less than March 2021.

Kia Seltos (8,086 Units)
The Seltos is conveniently parked in the second position under its brother-from-another-mother; the Creta. The Seltos sold 8,086 units this month which is 2,471 (-23%) units less than the previous month. Nonetheless, the big Kia continues to dominate the SUV sales charts in India.

Mahindra Scorpio (3,577 Units)
The trust ole’ Scorpio, the favourite of Mr Rohit Shetty and has made appearances in many of his films (see Singham). The Mahindra Scorpio managed to bad the third position settling with 3,577 units; 1,246 more than in March 2021. Looks like there is no stopping Singham Ajay Devgn in his white Scorpio 🙂

Maruti Suzuki S-Cross (2,247 Units)
Probably the only existing crossover in the Indian automotive market. A remembrance of the phenomenal SX4 (we miss you!), the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross scored a decent fourth position selling 2,247 units; a nominal 288 units less than the sales in March 2021. We have driven the S-Cross and we were impressed. Its simple, decent, no-nonsense layout is the perfect suit for someone looking for a simple yet modern car.

MG Hector (2,147 Units)
The new (relatively!) entrant in the SUV market has taken India by storm. Hector offers a great combination of class-first features and aggressive pricing. And with the launch of the 7-seater Hector PLUS, looks like there is not stopping MG in India. Hector managed to sell 2,147 units; which is 55% less than its sales in March 2021 (4720 units). Did I spoke too soon?

Tata Harrier (1,712 Units)
The mighty Harrier is Tata’s entry in the best selling SUVs sales chart. The India-favourite Harrier brought Land Rover brute looks and technology at an affordable price. The Tata Harrier sold 1,712 units in the month of April 2021 compared to 22,84 units in March 2021 (-25% dip).

Tata Safari (1,514 Units)
Tata’s second entry; the 2020 iteration of the legendary Safari; The Tata Safari stood its ground in the event position beating the Jeep Compass. The Safari sold 1,514 units in the month of April 2021, which is 634 units less compared to March 2021 (-30% dip).

Jeep Compass (846 Units)
The Compass is one of the finest SUVs currently offered in the Indian market. Owners vouch for its driveability and refinement. There is no denying that the Jeep Compass is one of the classiest SUV money can buy. The Compass sold a total of 846 units in April 2021; a dip of -38% from the month of March 2021 (1,360 units).

Mahindra XUV500 (717 Units)
Mahindra has been in the news lately and all for good reasons; from the prospective launch of the much-awaited Mahindra XUV700 to the rumours around an XUV900 crossover. Anyways, the Mahindra XUV500 sold 717 units in the month of April 2021 which is 114 units more than in March 2021. A growth of 19%.

Renault Duster (180 Units)
Everyone remembers the Duster; the SUV that brought fame and fortune to Renault in India. The Duster was a strategically well-planned car that was launched when the compact SUV market in India was brewing. Renault managed to sell only 180 units of the Duster in April 2021 compares to 252 units in March 2021 (-72 units/29%).
