With the Kia Carnival already on its way to go on sale on 5th February and the Kia QYi sub-4-meter SUV scheduled for second-half of 2020. The South Korean carmaker has now confirmed a new Hyundai Venue-based SUV for the H2 this year. This is the Kia Sonet.
This Kia Is Safe! Kia Seltos Secures 5-Star in ANCAP Safety Rating
There is a high possibility that Kia will give us a quick glimpse of the Sonet at the upcoming Auto Expo 2020. Kia Motors has already trademarked the name “Sonet” and have started road-testing the SUV for drivability in Indian conditions.
In an official press release, Kia Motors India said, “To further strengthen its Utility Vehicle brand image in India, the company is planning to launch a new sub-compact SUV in the second half of 2020”.
2020 Kia Sonet Specifications
The Sonet will be based on the Hyundai Venue platform. It will also share some of the components from the Venue compact SUV.
As for engine options, we expected the Kia Sonet to come with 3 BS6 compliant engine options with both a manual and an automatic gearbox:
- 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol
- 1.2-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol
- 1.5-litre diesel engine

2020 Kia Sonet Features
Kia has a knack of naming its global cars starting with the letter “S”; Soul, Stonic, Seltos, Sportage and Sorento.
Feature-wise, the Kia Sonet will share interior elements from the Seltos. The exterior will sport a typical Kia Tiger-nose grille, LED headlamps and tail-lamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a roof-mounted spoiler.
Inside the Sonet, will be an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system enabled with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with “UVO Connect” connected car solution, wireless charging, automatic climate control, power windows and more.
