Škoda to launch New SUV (Maruti Brezza Rival) in India Soon

The long-lasting Škoda cars have given a tough competition to other automakers in India. The SUV segment has also boomed a lot since the past few years in the country and Škoda is ready to set its foot in the segment with a new mid-size SUV which will be launched by the year 2021. This confirmation comes from Zac Hollis, Director of Sales, Service and Marketing, Škoda Auto India.

While there’s no official information about the name of the SUV, it can be expected that the Globally selling Škoda Kamiq can make it to our shores.

  • The mid-size SUV can be expected to be priced around ₹10 lakhs although the official price will be available when it is launched.
  • It will rival against the already selling Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Nissan Kicks. These SUVs have a good sales record and it will be a tough competition for Škoda to establish the new SUV in the already captured market.

Škoda Kamiq | Engine Specifications

  • The global version of Škoda Kamiq is powered by a 1.5-Litre petrol engine which can churn out a power of 131HP and a peak torque of 250 Nm.
  • The Indian version can be expected to have the 1.0-Litre, three-cylinder option too. Although it is hard to say,  factory-fitted CNG may also be an option. Electrification of the SUV is unlikely to happen.

The SUV can be expected to have an 8.0-inch infotainment system. A panoramic sunroof which will make every drive at night memorable. Automatic climate control and ambient lighting will add to the bling.

The global version has a plethora of safety features such as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Nine airbags, Lane-assist, Isofix anchorage, Seat belt reminder and many more. It has got a 5-star rating at the Euro NCAP crash test. These features are likely to make their way to the Indian version too.

Although the launch should have been earlier that the mid-2021, the safety and comfort of the Škoda Kamiq may be able to lure customers into buying it.
