Mahindra eKUV100
The KUV100; introduced about five years back, but it could never make room in the market despite its features. KUV100 was a car ahead of its time, and the buyers never understood the appeal & the good deal it was. The eKUV100 was revealed in the 2020 Auto-Expo and was spied testing a while back too. Expo with a starting price of ₹8.25 Lakhs (ex-showroom) with a claimed range of 149 kilometres powered by a 15.9 kWh lithium-ion battery making 54bhp & 120Nm torque. Overall, there are no significant changes spotted in the exterior compared to the IC engine variant. With a fast charger, it could be brought up to 80% in 55 minutes.
The version spotted had different alloy wheels with blue accents on the spokes, side, and the front grille. The Mahindra Electric(ME) badge on the charging socket flap. It also gets ‘+’ & ’-‘on the tailgate to establish and differentiate the electric version. It will hit the markets in early 2022.

Mahindra XUV300 EV
Another desi upcoming electric car. The Mahindra XUV300 received immense love when launched; it is purely derived from the Ssangyong Tivoli. The 5-star NCAP crash rating, a powerful engine, robust build & features such as the steering turn indicator did well in the market. An electric version of the same is also in the works, will be launched soon. Although Mahindra has not revealed any technical aspects of the car, the expected price is around ₹15 lakhs ex-showroom. It is expected to have a driving range similar to the Nexon EV and launch before early 2022.

Tata Tiago EV
The Tata Tiago is the most affordable & safest hatchback, with a significant load of features & variants to pick from. We already have the Tigor EV running in the market from the Tiago & Tigor duo, with the latest update of the commercial Xpres T-EV & the same EV launched for the public. The Tiago EV, expected to have a price of ₹6 lakhs ex-showroom, but technical details have not been revealed yet. The mechanical aspects could be similar to the Tigor EV, which runs with a 30kW electric motor making 40hp giving a range of about 130 kilometres.

Tata Altroz EV
As Tata observed a rise in the sales of the Nexon EV, they also launched a dark version of the same. Although the Nexon EV claimed a range of 312 kilometres, the figure differed on the road leading to disputes.While considering EVs, the range is the most critical factor, and the Altroz EV, based on the Ziptron electric powertrain, is expected to have a range of 500 kilometres. The range seems promising and will continue to raise many expectations, but the on-road results differ.
It might come with the new ZConnec application previously seen with the Nexon EV, which ensures essential convenience and features vitals such as charge levels & history, charging stations, remote monitoring, and more.
The pricing could be aggressive and around ₹10 lakhs to make it the most affordable EV with a good range.

Tata Sierra EV
The Tata Sierra was also one of the cars ahead of their time, and we can still see one on the road if lucky enough. It is one of the cars that the Indian buyers wanted relaunching, so Tata revealed the electric concept of the Sierra in the 2020 Auto-expo.
It carries the Impact 2.0 design language & built on the ALFA-ARC platform; the pricing could be similar to the Nexon EV with a bit of hike.
It seems promising based on the same Ziptron powertrain with an expected range of 400 kilometres with a single charge. The concept included black cladding along the sides with LED heads & tail lamps standing on dual-tone alloys. This is one promising upcoming electric car in India.

Maruti Suzuki WagonR EV
Another awaited upcoming electric car, Maruti Suzuki WagonR has been on the roads for two decades and has been with almost every family as their little hatchback. It has seen many updates throughout the three generations, with the latest being wider along with a bigger boot.
This car will never go off the roads, proving that an electric version of the WagonR was spied testing on the roads. It is expected to a price of ₹8 lakhs and will hit the roads next year.

Maruti Suzuki Futuro-e
The Futuro-e; revealed in the 2020 Auto-expo with a coupe design and sharpness across the body. Maruti Suzuki plans to show the flowing utility for their future vehicles with this design and a bit of autonomous driving indicated by the tech-filled interior.
The interior had a blue ivory theme with swivelling seats and screens all around, it is still a design in the study, and the actual car could be produced in the upcoming years seating 4 people with mid-sized SUV dimensions.
